Proposal to start a Prothesis gap year

The Prothesis Concept is a process that was ideally created for a “gap year”. It is a one-year fulltime course that aims to equip and disciple young people before sending them into the world. The concept is modular, adaptable and very dynamic, but too complex to be effectively explained on paper. It is caught rather than taught, which makes it vital for any potential leader to have spent a minimum of one year in the process him/herself.

The process is principle based including the following fundamentals:

How to start a Prothesis “gap year”

Prothesis is not a company, it is an intellectual property. If a Church or other organisation wants to start such a gap year, they need to negotiate with myself, Abel Loedolff (author of the process) in person. The proposition is that I will link the church up with a well equipped leader or leaders who understand the process and will assist and mentor them in running the gap year fully up to standard. I am also available to help design and provide information to market the new gap year. He can provide ’n marketing DVD from archive materials with the new name, logo slogans etc. of the new gap year. The new gap year will have its own name and become fully part of the facilitating Church, as long as the culture does not violate any of the vital principles that govern the process.

Financial and collaborative implications

10% of class fees are due to me for  intellectual property and support to ensure the maintenance of principles and standards. Duringrelationship all new developments on the Prothesis side will become part of the new gap year and we will assist, advise and be involved in planting new courses from this first one within other campuses of the church group, with the same financial implications. The intellectual property remains that of myself, Abel Loedolff to implement in other churches or organisations.

Communes or housing will belong to the church and the Prothesis team will have no involvement or any benefits from it.

This proposition is an initial draft, but with discussion and more importantly, relationship, other possibilities may be addressed. The heart of what we do is to equip youth over the borders of denominations and continents.

Business plan and budget

Ideally the course should be self sustaining except for the church providing infrastructure, spiritual covering, relationship and culture. Salaries should come out of tuition fees although a first year usually requires some subsidy from the church for the establishment of the course administratively.

Facilitators:

It is imperative that all facilitators  have experience with the Prothesis concept. This is non-negotiable. Reason being, to ensure that the God-given essence and the necessary values are established. The leadership will fully submit to and be in fellowship with the CRC campus leadership. CRC may  appoint an observer leader if they would like to.
